Subject: The OTS Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Dear OTS Grantees,

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has made protecting the health of everyone the highest priority. We understand that Governor Newsom’s executive order on social distancing measures is having an impact on some grantees’ ability to meet grant objectives, including the cancellation or postponement of events.

In light of this, we are directing grantees to follow recommendations from state health officials and refrain from holding large gatherings or meetings. Grantees should also cancel any planned events or meetings with large crowds.

Grantees will need to work with the OTS grant coordinators on alternate work plans that are in line with current grant programs and meet grant performance measures. Alternate work plans, such as trainings or education presentations in a virtual setting and social media traffic safety campaigns, must be reviewed and approved by the OTS.

If any activity or event is canceled due to COVID-19 concerns, including enforcement operations, please provide justification that aligns with the local or state COVID-19 directives. These cancellations shall be reported to your grant coordinator as soon as the decision is made to cancel an event and must be reflected in Quarterly Performance Reports.

This is a trying time for all of us. The COVID-19 response is fluid, but we are actively monitoring the situation and planning accordingly.

We will continue to provide any updates with all of our traffic safety partners. Thanks for all you do and stay safe.

Sincerely,
Barbara Rooney
OTS Director
